What is Christmas Really About?

Christmas—Sadlly this can become a time of immense stress. Too many things to do, presents to buy, people to see, deadlines to meet. In all the crazy bustle, one can easily lose sight of why this season, this day, is so very important.
Immanuel—God with us. GOD with us. God WITH us. God with US! No matter how you say it, this little word and its pure, simple meaning encapsulates the true significance of Christmas. Christmas is the celebration of the time, about 2000 years ago, when God Himself took pity on us, His children, and came to live among us as a little child. He came to experience our lives, to become closer to us than ever before possible. He came so that He could die in our place and make a way for us to be with Him for all eternity. Now that is something worth celebrating!
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” ~Matthew 1:23
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. ~John 3:16,17
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! ~2 Corinthians 9:15
